Lori Buffalow Owner and director, of the Next Step Dance Studio. She has been teaching and dancing professionally for the past 28 years. While a member of the American Dance Company and the United Spirit Association, she performed in concerts featuring Huey Lewis & The News, The Beach Boys, and Gloria Estefan. She was a member of the San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush. Lori earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Mary's College and has been a popular dance instructor for children and teens in the Danville area for many years.
Since taking over The Next Step, her performing dance teams have won top awards while earning several dance scholarships. The teams have performed at Disneyland, on Cruise lines and performed on a European Tour plus numerous local events. Several of the Next Step's students have advanced to college dance teams, pro sports teams, and have made careers in dance production. The goal of The Next Step is to provide a positive, nurturing experience for students, in varying styles of dance on all levels & for all ages. A talented and professional staff has been assembled in order to achieve that goal.
Lindsay Cross graduated from Chapman University with a B.A. in Dance. She was part of the award-winning Chapman University Dance Team for 4 years, and was captain her senior year. She choreographed competition routines as well as halftime performances for the team. She was also a part of Chapman University's Dance Tour and performed throughout California as a chosen representative of the dance department. She grew up in the Bay Area where she trained and competed regionally and nationally. Lindsay was also the Head Coach for the Carondelet High School Dance Team. She is passionate about teaching and spreading her love of dance throughout her student's hearts.
Kristin Del Soldato
Kristin Del Sodato is in her seventh year of instruction at The Next Step after teaching ballet and pre-school dance in the South Bay for over twenty years. She's danced at the Los Gatos Academy and the San Jose Dance Theater. Kristin specializes in technique with our most advanced Company Team Dancers as well as developing creativity and a love for dance in our youngest students. Her years of experience and love for her students make her shine as a Next Step Instructor.
Gina, a Bay Area native, is a second-generation dancer/dance instructor who is excited to share her talents with the students of The Next Step Dance Studio. Training since the age of two, she has been privileged to study with many of the top teachers and choreographers in the Bay Area, as well as in LA and NYC. She is a proud alumnus of Saint Mary's College of California, where she earned her degree in Kinesiology, specializing in Health & Human Performance. A life-long performer, Gina grew up performing frequently in a variety of venues, including numerous regional and national Dance Competitions, as well as performing professionally for the past nearly two decades both in the US and internationally. Gina brings 16 years of experience as a dance instructor and choreographer to The Next Step Dance Studio. Her choreography has been recognized and awarded and her dancers have achieved special recognition and numerous high point awards at various Dance Competitions. Many of Gina's students have gone on to dance in esteemed college dance programs (UC Irvine, NYU, Julliard, CalArts and Chapman) and who also currently perform professionally in Cirque De Soleil, on cruise ships and as Radio City Rockettes. Miss Gina believes in a strong work ethic fueled by passion and hopes to instill this into her students at The Next Step!
Karina has studied dance since the age of 3. She is an accomplished instructor and performer having participated on The Next Step's Award-Winning Competitive Dance Teams all her years at the studio. Karina performed locally in the community raising funds for charitable organizations in support of dance and the arts. She has performed at Disneyland, on Carnival Cruise Lines and on two European Tours. Most recently, Karina has been a cast member at Disneyworld, Florida! She has also won numerous awards and dance scholarships. Karina is an energetic and talented teacher with an enthusiasm for sharing her passion for dance with her students. She teaches Summer Dance Camp, Birthday Parties and private lessons when she is home from college.
Jordan has been dancing at The Next Step for many years, competing on their Award-Winning Performance Dance Teams. She began her training at age five. Dance was not only a hobby, but a passion for her. Jordan has participated as a member of the San Ramon Valley Pom Team as well as Dance Line and Can-Can Teams. She has studied all styles of dance including jazz, contemporary, modern, hip-hop and ballet. Jordan cannot wait to share her love for dance with her students!
Sophie has been a dedicated dancer on The Next Step's Performing Teams for thirteen years. From a young age Sophie has had a strong passion for dancing, along with teaching and helping others. She has participated on the SRVHS Pom Dance Team for years and has been the captain, a member of the Award-Winning SRVHS Dance Line Team and Can-Can Team. Sophie is so excited to share her love for dance with all her students!
Gabrielle Griffith received her early dance training as a member of the Dance Depot Performing Company. In those 14 years, she trained in jazz, contemporary, hip-hop and tap. She was also a student at the Idaho Falls School of Ballet for 13 years and trained with Brindusa-Moore Ballet Academy. In 2012 Gabby joined Bonnie Story's Dance Company, Expansion, in which she danced for 3 years. Gabby has shared her talent as a performer at local benefit concerts including: Utah Bully Awareness Concert and Valley Cancer Awareness. She taught at Treehouse Dance Academy and was also a member of LA Dance Magic's Dance Company, touring with them for a year. Gabby is a dancer and teacher in her heart and will find and embrace every opportunity to share her talent and love for this great art with all her students. She believes in teaching the importance of "life skills", not just dancing.
Amy has studied and been passionate about dance since the age of three. She began dancing back in her home state of New Jersey and continued when she moved to Danville at age five competing in various forms of dance such as tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop and musical theater. Amy's love for dance expanded when she entered Monte Vista High School and she devoted her time and choreography skills towards the Dance Team for all four years and Varsity Pom for three years. In 2013, Amy graduated from California State University, Chico with a B.S. degree in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in Movement Studies, while also participating in the Chico State Dance Club for three years. Amy is very excited to be part of The Next Step Dance Studio family and will continue to spread her knowledge of movement through her life-long passion of dance.
Jacquie discovered dance at the young age of three years old at a studio in the Bay Area, where she was born and raised. Dance, very quickly, became a passion for Jacquie and she found her way to a competition team. She has been trained in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, and acro, competing for 13 years on a nationally ranked team. Jacquie has had many wonderful opportunities to travel and learn from the best across the country. She has traveled all over California, including being a featured dancer at the Miss California Organization Pageant, as well as having her choreography featured two years in a row. She has traveled to Las Vegas numerous times for conventions and national dance competitions where she has won multiple National Solo Dance Titles and scholarships. She's also been to New York to be a dancer in the Dancer Responding to AIDS benefit, taken classes at Broadway Dance Center, as well as having the opportunity to be a featured opening number dancer in the infamous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She was also part of NBA Warriors Junior Jam squad for two years, performing during time-outs and half time. Jacquie has been teaching tap, jazz, lyrical, and technique since the age of 15. She has choreographed numerous dances, especially tap, receiving high placing awards regionally and nationally, as well as making showcases. Her love and passion for dance comes through in her teaching as she encourages her students to be the best that they can be!
Rachel Jackson is the Director of NS Crew, Fierce and Dance Rage, our competitive Company Dance Teams for junior hip-hop and high school students. She has performed in the Bay Area and internationally for the past 25 years. Rachel is the former Director of the San Francisco 49ers Goldrush Cheerleaders, has worked with Boyz II Men, Baby Face and Tony Bennett, plus appeared in commercials for Dr. Scholl's and Pepsi.
Kayla has been taking dance lessons since the age of 3 and has participated on The Next Step’s Award-Winning Competitive Dance Teams since kindergarten. She was a member of Monte Vista High School's Dance Team and is currently a member of the MV Varsity Pom Team. With The Next Step Studio, she has performed on two European tours, a Carnival Cruise Line and numerous times at Disneyland and local shows in Danville. She has won several dance convention awards and scholarships. Kayla enjoys all types of dance and is looking forward to sharing her love of dance with her students.
Corissa Johnson attended California State University East Bay where she obtained a B.A. in Theatre Arts-Dance. She has been teaching and performing dance for over 17 years and has coached and taught dance at many bay area schools as well as CSUEB. Corissa is also a Recreation Specialist in Oakland. As well as being a teacher, Corissa is a professional dancer/performer. She has performed within the U.S. touring in Washington D.C., New York, Hawaii, California and also internationally to Germany in 2006 to compete in the IDO International Hip-Hop Competition. She dances, sings and plays drums within Dandelion Dance Theater (Bandelion Group) and has been a part of the Interclusive Interdisciplinary Ensemble (IIE) at CSUEB for many years now. She is also a core member of MEnD Dance-Theatre Company performing throughout the Bay Area promoting healing and mending through dance. Corissa's passion is to create, teach and insprire through dance!
Lauren has been dancing since the age of three and has been of member of The Next Step’s Award-Winning Performance Team for many years. She performs at Disneyland, local festivals, as well as numerous local charity events in support of dance and the arts. Lauren is also a member of San Ramon Valley High School’s competitive Dance Line. She studies all different styles of dance, and especially enjoys hip-hop, tap, and ballet. Lauren is looking forward to sharing her love and enthusiasm for dance and hopes to be a positive role model for all of her students at The Next Step.
Jessica Lim trained at the Dance Studio of Fresno for 10 years. She has studied jazz, contemporary, ballet, pointe, tap, hip-hop and African. She participated in the Elite Dance Teams at her studio and competed at numerous competitions and conventions where she won mulitple dance scholarships. Jessica is now at St. Mary's College with a dance scholarship participating in the St. Mary's Dance Company and Spirit Team. Jessica is excited to teach and share her love for dance with her students. The Next Step is happy to have Jessica on staff.
Jack started dancing at five years old and has been a member of The Next Step's Award-Winning Dance Teams for many years. He auditioned and was selected as one of LA Dance Magic's Company Members and has traveled the country with the LA Dance Magic Convention for the past 4 years, assisting the teachers in all levels of dance. Jack has also been Captain of San Ramon Valley High School's Competitive Dance Line, choreographying numbers that compete at National Conventions. Jack has won numerous dance awards and scholarships. He love teaching all types of dance especially hip-hop, tap and jazz.
Kelly has been a member of The Next Step's Award- Winning Performance Dance Teams since Kindergarten. She has participated as a member of San Ramon Valley High School's Competitive Dance Line and Varsity Pom Team. Kelly has performed locally in the community raising fund for charitable organizations in support of dance and the arts. She has also performed at Disneyland and on a European Dance Tour. Brooke was born and raised in Northern California where she began dancing at the age of two. She studied and competed in tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and ballet through age 18. After high school, Brooke moved to Southern California to further her education and study under some of the nation's top tap instructors and choreographers. While living in Southern California and earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at California State University, Long Beach, she began to travel throughout the United States as guest choreographer and master instructor. Brooke's routines have won countless top awards for their choreography and excellence from many different competitions throughout the United States. Most recently, Brooke was awarded "Choreographer of the Year" at one of the nations top National Competitions, Kids Artistic Review. Outside of teachng and choreographing, Brooke is a Professional NFL Cheerleader and dancer and has recently performed with artists such as Nico & Vinz and Snoop Dogg. She strives to better her students in a positive and exciting environment and is ready to share her love for rhythm, entertainment and tap with all of you.
Ava has been dancing at The Next Step Dance Studio since the age of three. She has been a part of the studio's Award-Winning Performance Teams for many years. Along with being a teacher, she is also an assistant at the studio. Ava has performed in Disneyland, on a European Dance Tour and numerous charity events which support dance and the arts in our local community. Ava has great passion and a strong enthusiasm for the arts and hopes to share that with her students at The Next Step.
Jessie has been taking ballet and tap classes since she was three years old. She branched out into other styles once she began taking classes at the Next Step Dance Studio at the age of six. Jessie will have been a part of the Next Step award winning competitive teams for 8 years after this coming season, her senior year. She was the first dancer at the Next Step to participate on two tap teams in the same season, one of her favorite styles of dance. She has also been a part of the highest level tap team at the Next Step, TAP, for the past four years. She has performed in many places; including local venues and festivals, charity events, Disneyland, and Europe. Jessie has been a part of San Ramon Valley High School's dance program since her freshman year and is looking forward to being a part of their competitive team, Dance Line, this coming year. Jessie loves sharing her love of dance with others and cannot wait to expand her enthusiasm and passion with her students.
Sophie has been dancing at The Next Step since the age of four. She has participated in the studio's Award-Winning Performance Teams for many years, including Dance Rage, the most advanced Performance Team. Sophie has performed in many places including Disneyland, local events and charity events that support dance and the arts in our local community. She has won numerous dance scholarships from different dance competitions/conventions in her years as a participant. Sophie has trained in all types of dance and enjoys teaching students different styles. She especially enjoys contemporary, lyrical and jazz. Sophie is looking forward to sharing her passion for dance with all of her Next Step students.
